Reshma was invited to conduct 15 minute health checks and lifestyle assessments for the company health and wellbeing day. This was her second visit this year and we hope to have her team back for more wellness events in the future.
BAPS Charities had partnered with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and myself to promote and deliver a 10 week programme, ‘Wellbeing for You’ which encouraged physical activity and a healthy lifestyle for the local community. The aim was to empower them to take ownership of their own health
Shape Up with Spurs
This is a 10-week weight management programme incorporated nutrition workshops and physical activity sessions. The workshops focused on healthy eating, portion sizes, label reading and cooking. Exercise and multi-sports sessions will explain and promote the importance of being active, while there will be on-going support to continue being physically active and managing weight and health risks.
A health convention was organised at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London, for senior members of the fellowship.
The event, attended by over 200 people, was in response to growing concerns about health and fitness amongst 40- to 55-year-olds, and provided valuable information and guidance for managing personal health, diet and fitness.
Laura Holland, from the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, discussed prevention and treatment of sports injuries. The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation has recently begun a partnership with London Mandir and BAPS Charities to improve wellbeing and fitness in the local community. This inspiring initiative began in April 2018, when it was launched in the presence of star Spurs footballer Ben Davies.
An emphasis on diet was an important component of the seminar. Reshma Patel, a Registered dietician, discussed cooking techniques and offered practical tips in relation to the preparation of healthier Gujarati meals.

The only nutrition professional to be regulated by law. They must follow and ethical code, be registered professionals and work to the highest standard possible.

Reshma and her team were part of our employee wellbeing day. They arranged on site health checks which created lots of noise in the office. The Diabetes UK Know Your Risk Roadshow 2016 was a huge success; thank you to everyone who came aboard and got involved. With the support of our amazing regional teams and fantastic volunteers we delivered 168 roadshow days across the United Kingdom.A massive 15,426 people found out their risk of Type 2 diabetes, which helped to increase understanding of the risk factors and symptoms of Type 2 diabetes. We also referred over 8,100 people who were at ‘high’ or ‘moderate’ risk of having diabetes to their GP for further tests.
Reshma has worked as the dietitian on the London and Midland road shows giving advice and screening.
